SPIRITUAL LIFE
Wednesday Wisdom & Wondering: Wednesdays, 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. from October 8th - November 12th: “The Myth of Redemptive Violence & Jesus’ Third Way” Using scripture as foundation, and tapping heavily into the wisdom of theologian Walter Wink (with input from others like Richard Rohr, James Cone, and more), Pastor Betsy guides discussion on the importance of the Gospel in difficult times. When the culture seems to be in fight or flight modes, Jesus offers a third way. This six-week series will meet in Fellowship Hall (back of the sanctuary, near the kitchen) and requires no preparation. However, if you are one who likes to read before class, you can purchase The Powers That Be by Walter Wink, wherever books are sold. All are welcome!
Coffee with Jesus - Exploring our Questions about Faith, Life and Spirituality. This fall our Coffee with Jesus group will be exploring and connecting around ways we can “create from body and soul,” guided by the book, “The Art of Ensoulment,” by Cynthia Winton-Henry. Cynthia is co-founder of Inter-Play and Body-Wisdom. Among many other descriptors she is an embodied visionary, spiritual director, dancer, author, and highly sensitive mystic who seeks to foster freedom in herself and others. Molly Baskette, author and pastor has said, "Cynthia's soulful, colorful playfulness on-the-move is just what the world needs to help us metabolize grief, fear, and trauma and find ourselves in a truly empowered and liberated moment, individually and collectively.“ Our group usually meets the 3rd Sunday each month, after worship, in the Mary & Martha room, downstairs.
